NAPA News - Week 4, Term 1, 2024

Dear NAPA Families,

A fairly short news week this week now that students and parents are starting to get into class routines and operational procedures. Once again, we cannot stress enough that it’s so important for families to read the newsletter each week to ensure you are on top of things. This is our main form of communication. Seeing so many miss out on meeting the deadline of uniform orders because they hadn’t read the newsletter was so disappointing and held up submitting our orders. If you haven’t read our newsletters, please check the website where they are kept. Being aware of the things that are happening at NAPA helps you discover more opportunities for your child’s experience with us.

Uniform Orders Update

The orders now have been placed with the two companies. Please note that if you ordered from the Basic Range, your orders should be here in about 3 weeks. The Activated Industries orders will take around 8 weeks as they are made overseas. We did have a few items still in stock, so if you ordered those particular items, we have emailed you to pick them up. They are in bags with your name on it on a table in reception. It may not be your entire order but 1 or 2 items. We will do a winter order for the basic range items closer to winter but no more Activated Industry ones as they take too long to arrive. We do have a few more items in stock of sizes not ordered so if you need more uniforms throughout the year or missed out on ordering by the deadline, you can now pop into reception and purchase any on the rack you need. Failing that, always check our Buy, Swap, Sell page. If you have any outgrown uniforms, please place them on there, to help those who require more uniforms throughout the year.

College Does Camp

Over three days and two nights our College students were presented with a range of different experiences and challenges including hiking in the rain, a full day of kayaking, putting up their tents, preparing and cooking their own dinner on the fire and participating in a variety of self discovery activities. They were encouraged to explore their understanding of the ‘window of connection’ and how they can deepen their connection with both themselves and their peers. This was an incredible opportunity for these cherubs to push themselves out of their comfort zones, not only physically but also mentally. We are excited to carry these new learnings forward as we progress through the rest of the year! Special thanks to our incredible camp facilitators, Chris and Nicola for sharing their knowledge & showing support and encouragement to each and every one of us along the way. Well done cherubs!

2024 Concert

We are so excited to announce that our 2024 concert will be based off the beloved story of Matilda! But we need your help coming up with the perfect name. If you have an idea for what our concert should be called, email [email protected] We can't wait to see all your creative ideas!!

Roles in our 2024 concert will be decided based off students class work, and preparations will begin slowly throughout term 1 and 2, with most of the concert choreography being done in term 3 and 4. Don't forget to check the NAPA calendar for all dates, including our concert rehearsals and performances.

Certificate Awards Collection

As previously mentioned, we have had certificates from last year’s Awards Ceremonies at reception for you to pick up if your child couldn’t attend the ceremony last year.  Every child receives a Certificate, so if you missed out collecting it, please ensure you pick it up by the end of next week as we will have to throw them out after then.

Pre-Senior Tread the Boards Play Announcement

We are excited to announce we have the Rights for the play, The Con by Tracy Wells. This is a hilarious whodunit, comedy.  Set at a Comic Con, this play consists of a series of vignettes, each with their own stand-alone story that also furthers the under-lying plot of a con in progress.  Auditions will take place soon. Have fun young thespians.

Games Usage

As you are probably aware, we provide indoor and outdoor games for children to play whilst waiting for classes. We find this an important part of helping our children feel part of the NAPA family and feeling at home when here at NAPA. Sadly, some of our younger students are disrespecting the outdoor equipment by bashing the bats and rackets on the ground to break them, throwing balls onto roofs and outside the gates etc. Games are often left without being put away after playing with them. We are constantly having to buy new ones but enough is enough as we have gone through 10 balls and 6 bats/rackets since the start of term. There will be no more replacements of equipment for the rest of the term.  Parents, if you have a primary aged child who plays with our games could you please have a conversation with them about respecting the games we have by using them correctly and putting them back in their boxes on shelves when finished. Also, parents who sit and wait for their child in class, if you see anyone misusing the equipment please remind them about the correct usage. Thank you, we appreciate your help with this.

Have fabulous week everyone!

Lynn and the NAPA Team
